Why Should Your Child Attend OLB: A few words from our principalOLBOLB

I was asked by a future parent, " Tell me why my child should attend Our Lady of Bethlehem School." Being principal, my initial thought was, " Why wouldn't the child attend?"

When I first joined the teaching staff in 1982, and taught the curriculum established by the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus of the Netherlands, I immediately thought, "Oh, how my own children would have loved this program. How come I never knew about Our Lady of Bethlehem?"Our school grounds depict a home-like atmosphere. There is a feeling of friendliness in the building. At our Lady of Bethlehem, we greet the children every day, to let them know that we are glad to see them, that we are happy that they are with us  for another day, that  their presence matters to us.

Even though our school was founded Catholic, our students need not be Catholic to attend. Our students come from diverse family backgrounds, which create excellent social experiences in which all contribute. Because of our small class size, students are exposed to a safe, positive, loving, learning environment where they are expected to excel academically. Eighty percent of our students have consistently scored in the top 15% nationally on all standardized tests. Our students and families are encouraged to participate in extra curricular activities and be involved in community service, both on and off campus.

While our curriculum encourages academic achievement, instills high moral values, the importance of hard work, good citizenship, good sportsmanship, kindness, respect, and a responsibility to ourselves and others; fun and enjoyment is part of the student's day to day experience. When children enjoy school, they become more excited about learning.

The staff of OLB helps dictate a positive school spirit. Each staff member is highly dedicated; each teacher is enthusiastic and committed to teaching. The quality of education and the moral climate is exceptional!

Additionally, Our Lady of Bethlehem has an outstanding Child Care Center, which offers full and part time options to working parents. A new toddler program for 2 1/2 year olds is being introduced January 9, 2006. The school has expanded to offer after school enrichment programs for Pre-Kindergartners to Third Graders in the introduction to Spanish; Spanish 2; Karate for children.

Our Lady of Bethlehem prides itself not only in an outstanding staff and curriculum but also in a very dedicated, hard-working and successful Home and School Association and Development Foundation. ALL for your child's complete education.

Our Lady of Bethlehem is not just a school, it is a community. As you make the very important decision of where to send your child for his/her early education, I invite you to learn more about Our Lady of Bethlehem.
